Sandwiches


Mary's Monte Cristo

 

1 Servings


  • 2 sprays vegetable oil cooking spray
  • 1½ tablespoons butter
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 dash ground nutmeg
  • 2 slices multi-grain bread
  • 2 slices extra-lean deli ham
  • 2 slices low sodium deli turkey breast
  • 1 slice light Swiss cheese

Spray a large non-stick skillet with non-stick spray, heat over medium-low heat. Melt butter in skillet. Combine egg/water and nutmeg. Dip each slice of bread into egg mixture, then place in skillet until golden brown on one side, then flip.

Assemble sandwiches between slices of French toast, turn off heat and cover skillet until ham and turkey are warm and cheese is melted.

Serve with warm blackberry or raspberry preserves.


Note: When I make this for myself, I use Land O'Lakes Light Butter and sugar-free preserves. With the light butter, the sandwich sticks a bit, but it's still yummy.
